Soccer Update

Thanks to a funding application by one of our RUC members, we received R50,000 a few years ago for our soccer ministry to youth. The envisaged project had to be held back due to circumstances beyond our control, but is now flourishing under the leadership of Herbert Zuze. Our sincere thanks go again to the R-S Nussbaum Foundation, which had its origins in offices just a few hundred yards from RUC. We are grateful that a Jewish organisation so generously sponsored this Christian outreach.
Marlon Chamunorwa and Tawanda Nyaude, captain and vice-captain of the Rondebosch United Soccer Team write the following:
'We want to thank Rondebosch Church for coming up with the soccer Ministry, and especially Herbert and Patience Zuze for their effort walking the extra mile for this ministry to bring it to where it is. We thought it was just playing soccer at first but later on realised we are changing the lives of youths. Most of the youths have time to do sport, which helps them to abstain from many bad things, for example sexual activities. So far we have two Xhosa guys whose lives have been turned around by the ministry. We thank you RUC, and especially Dr Robert Steiner, for his reception which made us feel so at home. By not discriminating against anyone we can build a better future for both the community through our ministry and in the church.’
