In a league of their own

In a league of their own

We have managed to join the Christian soccer league, called His Premiere Soccer League, which caters for players less than 35 years old. Our team has players aged between 17 and 30 but most players are in their early twenties. We shall be playing against 8 other teams in the league, starting with our first game on 12 April 2010 against Calvary United, which will be played at the Winfield grounds in Goodwood.
Our team is currently a mixture of Zimbabweans, Congolese, South Africans and Malawians. The bulk of the players live in Kraaifontein, where they train almost every day. Woodstock players have attendance problems and most of the times they are not coming for the training. I will be working to see how best we can continue to have them.
Almost all of the players in our team have run away from their countries of origin for different reasons. Some of them are working whilst others are unemployed and a few are still going to school. Almost all of them are not converted and we were blessed to see some of them visiting RUC on 28 March. They promised to come again for they felt at home with the love they got from the members of the church. My vision is to develop leaders that will continue to spread the word of God to all the age groups but starting with the young ones, especially teenagers.
I hope this team of seniors shall be the foundation for the youth as well. Our main goal is to target the youth and I hope by joining the league the young ones shall be inspired to follow their seniors.
