Building community - Samaritan Partners Trust

The Samaritan Partners Trust is an independent trust through which donations are channelled to projects we have identified as meaningful and successful.

Ons Plek

Ons Plek is a shelter for female street children. The shelter consists of a two-phase programme in residential care. Children first arrive at the shelter in town and then go on to stay in Woodstock where they interact with neighbours, go back to school, have activities with volunteers (homework, dance, drama) and are cared for by social workers and childcare workers.

Save the Children

In January 2009 RUC raised R3498.60 as a contribution towards stemming the tide of the cholera epidemic sweeping Zimbabwe. The money was channelled into Save the Children UK’s Zimbabwe programme, who sent the following letter of thanks:

We would like to thank you for your generous support to our programmes in Musina assisting migrant children and refugees from Zimbabwe.

Umtha Welanga

Orphans at the local community project, Umtha Welanga (meaning A New Dawn) in Khayelitsha were given the chance to have a Christmas celebration of their own thanks to the generosity of the congregation.
