Building community - Soccer club

The church ministers to youth at risk through weekly soccer training sessions and participation in a Christian soccer league.

Soccer Update

Thanks to a funding application by one of our RUC members, we received R50,000 a few years ago for our soccer ministry to youth. The envisaged project had to be held back due to circumstances beyond our control, but is now flourishing under the leadership of Herbert Zuze. Our sincere thanks go again to the R-S Nussbaum Foundation, which had its origins in offices just a few hundred yards from RUC. We are grateful that a Jewish organisation so generously sponsored this Christian outreach.

In a league of their own

We have managed to join the Christian soccer league, called His Premiere Soccer League, which caters for players less than 35 years old. Our team has players aged between 17 and 30 but most players are in their early twenties. We shall be playing against 8 other teams in the league, starting with our first game on 12 April 2010 against Calvary United, which will be played at the Winfield grounds in Goodwood.

Introducing the Coach

I believe that at an appointed time God does his will to his best purpose. I was born on 5 April 1982, the first born in a family of five with a single sister. I did not know that one day I would leave my family and stay far from them and have another loving family again.I grew up in a Methodist church and later went to a Pentecostal church called ZAOGA in the small town of Chinhoyi, 88 kilometres north of Harare.
